ABOUT LIXIL

LIXIL makes pioneering water and housing products that make better homes a reality for everyone, everywhere.

Born in 2011 through a merger of five of Japan's most successful building materials and housing companies, we draw on our Japanese heritage to create world-leading technology and innovate to make high quality products that transform homes. Today, we're a global enterprise with approximately 60,000 employees in more than 150 countries worldwide, having expanded internationally by acquiring some of the most trusted names in our industry, including GROHE and American Standard.

LIXIL combines meaningful design, an entrepreneurial spirit, a dedication to improving accessibility for all, and responsible business growth to make things that matter – to people, to communities, and to the world we live in.

We are proud that our products touch the lives of more than a billion people every day but believe we have the potential to do so much more.

InfrastructureWeek was created to raise awareness of the critical state of our country's infrastructure and its impact on all Americans. The technology to ensure sanitary, safe, and comfortable access to plumbing in homes and businesses is a reality, and LIXIL continues to innovate and make advances in this area. However, there is much work to do, and the key to getting it done is bipartisan leadership that prioritizes the everyday needs of American families, workers, and businesses. LeadWithInfrastructure

There are approximately 1.6 million miles of water pipes and systems that were installed in the mid-1900s, that have well exceeded their useful life. In 2017, The American Society of Civil Engineers graded the state of the nation’s infrastructure a D+ and estimated that the need for improvements over the next 25 years could reach $1 trillion dollars. We continue to support the more than 2,300 other national and local organizations calling on Congress to pass comprehensive infrastructure legislation

Over the last 12 months, the importance of hand hygiene has been more visible than ever, but there's still much to be done in its improvement. Still, 40% of the world's population does not have a hand-washing facility with soap and water at home. In the world’s least developed countries, it is as high as 75% of the population.

To help protect these communities, LIXIL along with SATO Toilets, developed the SATO Tap - an affordable solution to be used anywhere in the home, even if access to running water doesn't exist.

Distributing Face Shields to Frontline Workers amid the Pandemic

Amid the COVID-19 pandemic, LIXIL is seeking to help keep local communities safe by much-needed face shields to healthcare workers and other frontline professionals in regions where we operate.

In March 2020, a group of engineers at LIXIL Americas launched a grassroots initiative to produce and distribute face shields to first responders. They repurposed the 3D printers at its R&D facility in New Jersey, and ramped up production and assembly of shields to make approximately 120 shields per week.

LIXIL expanded this activity in July by teaming up with the Jersey City Rapid Maker Response Group (JCRMRG), a volunteer group formed in 2020 that creates hospital-approved face shields. The partnership enabled us to distribute an additional 50,000 shields throughout the US, Canada, and Mexico. In October of the same year, we decided to support even more people on the front lines, including teachers, through donation of more than 20,000 face shields as part of our annual LIXIL Community Day.

Addressing the Skilled Labor Shortage with Tools and Tiaras

We are glad to partner with Tools & Tiaras and assist in their mission to show that jobs don't have genders.
